Vadodara: Urologists from across the country will perform 100 free surgeries for needy patients in central Gujarat.
The Urological Society of India (USI) will be holding an operative 3-day camp in Vadodara from September 2 to 4 as part of USICares, an initiative through which it tries to reach out to the underprivileged sections of the society and provide the best possible urological care by organizing free operative camps.
Uro-Nephrological Association of Vadodara (UNAV) has taken the primary responsibility of coordinating and organizing the event for the USI. It is worth mentioning here that cost of each surgery is not less than Rs 75,000 in private hospitals.
“UNAV members will conduct several diagnostic camps covering the central part of Gujarat to identify deserving patients who can benefit from this activity. All those patients who needs operative treatment for the urological ailments shall be admitted at Muni Seva Ashram and Kailash Cancer Hospital,” said Dr Ajay Bhandarkar, president of UNAV and executive council member of USI.
“Four fully-functional operation theatres shall work round the clock for three days and expert urologists from all over the country shall provide their services for this activity,” he said.
“The national-level experts will carry out laser operations for kidney stones and prostate, key hole surgeries for kidney tumours, complicated surgeries of urinary passages among others,” he said.
“We are conducting free diagnostic camps in Vadodara and Dahod to identify needy patients who should benefit from this camp,” Dr Bhandarkar added.
