Nagpur: A 21-year-old specially abled person, identified as Sochan Kumar, was reunited with his mother after almost six years when his true identity came to fore from the Aadhaar card prepared at his school.
The youth can communicate only in sign language. His mother met him at the government home for senior boys at Patankar Chowk on Friday.
Sochan, who was studying at a school in Khagariya district of Bihar, had gone missing a month-and-half after his Aadhaar card was prepared in September 2016.
The card helped the authorities find his economically-weak family that had neither approached police nor filed the missing complaint. Yet cops from Alouli (Bahadurpur) helped the youth’s family reach the government home for senior boys in Nagpur.
Sochan had sneaked out of home after a sibling fight and taken a train along with an acquaintance. He got separated from the acquaintance in the train. He was later caught stealing a bread and handed over to cops. He was taken to Childline railways in Nagpur from where he was shifted to the government home.
As Sochan could not identify himself, authorities had named him Prem Ramesh Ingale. He was subsequently admitted to different industrial schools for specially-abled students. Authorities of the government home superintendent SK Daberao and counsellor Mahesh Randive tried to generate an Aadhaar card for Sochan.
Captain Anil Marathe, in-charge of the Aadhaar Seva Kendra, Nagpur, who had reunited 32 persons with their families, said the application to prepare Aadhaar card for Ingale was rejected on technical grounds . “We approached the regional office of Aadhaar in Mumbai and technical support team in Bengaluru. After prolonged efforts and follow up, we came to know that Ingale’s real name was Sochan. We also got his original address and family details. Later, with the help of cops the youth was reunited,” he said adding that Sochan and his mother wept holding each other after meeting at the government home.
