Drivers die following collision

Belagavi: Two drivers died and more then 10 students were seriously injured after a private school bus collided with a canter heading in the opposite direction in Athani taluk of Belagavi district on Saturday.
The impact of the collision was such that the drivers of both vehicles died on the spot. The injured students were rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
It is said that a private college bus was carrying over 20 PUC students in a school bus which was moving to Banajawad private school located on outskirts of Athani.
Belagavi SP Sanjeev Patil said that residents rushed to the spot after hearing the accident. They helped the students out of the mangled vehicle. Athani police also reached the pot and inspected it.
A person who saw the accident told TOI, “The canter’s driver was sleepy and he is said to have worked the entire night. He was sleepy in the morning and his negligence caused the accident.”
After learning about the accident, parents of the injured students rushed to the hospital and to the accident spot. A case has been registered at Athani police station.
