THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The decomposed body of a 49-year-old Kottayam-based woman was found on Friday at a
house in Ulloor, where she was living on rent.
The deceased has been identified as Sheeja P Joseph, wife of Jayachandran TN, of Puliyan Makkal house at Chungam in Kottayam.
Jayachandran is a police officer in Kottayam cyber cell and they were living separately for many years due to domestic issues.
Sheeja rented the house behind Decathlon on February 10, 2021, from an Ulloor-native Arunjith (38), by informing that she was working as a staff at a private firm in Kumarapuram. She was not seen by anyone for the last ten days and the house owner informed police and her relatives in Kottayam. When police forced open the door, her decomposed body was found in the bedroom of the house.
Police ruled out anything unnatural behind her death as she was suffering from various ailments. All the doors of the house were locked from inside, even the bedroom in which her body was found. Body will be sent to her relatives after a post-mortem at the medical college hospital.
The house owner’s father-in-law Devarajan (70) said that the woman was not interested in interacting with them and once got upset with their child when asked about her family.
Medical College police registered a case under section 174 of CrPC for unnatural death. “The death might have been caused by a heart attack or some other health issues. Since she was alone and the doors locked, she could not have come out seeking help. The exact cause of death will be known only after a biopsy result,” said police.
