Himachal rains: Chakki bridge in Kangra collapses, 3 killed in flash floods and landslides

The 800-metre-long bridge on Chakki river in Kangra district collapsed due to heavy rains. As the water level in the river rose, one pillar of the bridge was washed away. Reports say that illegal sand mining in the river had weakened the bridge’s foundation. Flash floods have also occurred at several places in Mandi district of the state. 3 people were killed and over a dozen are missing in flash floods and landslides across the state. Most rivers in the state are in spate and landslides have been reported from Chamba, Kullu and Mandi districts.
