CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu reported 639 new cases on Friday - a drop compared to 643 new cases on Thursday. All districts reported new cases but the number of districts reporting in single digits rose to 22 compared to 17 on Thursday.
The state discharged 810 people from the registry and the active cases fell to 6,299. With no deaths, the cumulative toll tally remained stable at 38,033.
Fresh cases in Chennai fell below the 100 mark and the city reported 98 new cases, the highest in the state, followed by 87 in Coimbatore and Chengalpet(50).
All other districts in the state reported fewer than 50 cases each. Erode(45), Salem (42), Krishnagiri (31), Tiruppur (23) and Kancheepuram (21). Seven districts - Kanyakumari (18), Namakkal (17), Thiruvallur (17), Ranipet (16), Madurai (13), Thiruvannamalai (12) and Villupuram (10) reported between 10 and 20 new cases.
