NOIDA: The officials from the district supply office, weight measurement wing, and oil companies’ officials jointly inspected four petrol pumps in Noida and Greater Noida on Friday.
During the inspection, the officials found two nozzles of the dispensing machines were dispensing less fuel than the prescribed norms and were temporarily closed at a petrol pump at Knowledge part 2, near Amrapali mall, Greater Noida. However, the records maintained by the petrol pump management showed records up to date.
Chaman Sharma, district supply officer, GB Nagar, said “As per the norms 25ml per 5 litres is permissible from each nozzle. If there is any variation, it needs to be checked. Once the nozzle is stopped, it requires re-sampling of the dispensing machines before starting the sales. We will continue the campaign at more petrol pumps. I would also request the residents if they are aware of any malpractice at the petrol pumps to report it.”
During the inspection, the team also checked the petrol pumps in Ecotech 12 Greater Noida, sectors 62 and 71 in Noida. Two petrol pumps were fined Rs 10,000 each for non-availability of a separate washroom for women and cleanliness.
The officials said that the campaign is now being monitored by GB Nagar DM, Suhas LY who has warned the petrol pump owners against any tampering and adulteration with the quality of fuel.
