Belagavi: Two AK-47 rifles are missing from the Indo-Tibet Border Police (ITBP) camp at Halabhavi, 24 km from the city, since August 17 and the country’s border patrol force is worried. The force registered a complaint at Kakati police station late on Thursday night.
The rifles were issued to Rajesh Kumar and Sandeep Meena, both from the 45th Madurai ITBP Battalion, who were undergoing Naxal suppression training in Halabhavi.
A special ITBP camp is on at Halabhavi since July 29. The jawans — Rajesh and Sandeep — slept with the rifles beside them on the third floor of the barracks, but the weapons were missing the next morning.
