The Rouse Avenue Court on Saturday acquitted Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Yogendra Yadav, a former AAP leader, in a criminal defamation case.
Magistrate Vidhi Gupta Anand pronounced the verdict in the defamation case.
The case was filed by lawyer Surender Sharma, who claimed that his candidature of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was cancelled in the 2013 assembly elections at the last moment.
Former secretary of Shahdara Bar Association and the then AAP worker, Sharma, had alleged that the party had approached him in 2013 and asked him to participate in the Delhi assembly elections on a party ticket, but after that he was accused of making false allegations and his candidature was cancelled.
During the filing of the complaint, Sharma said that Kejriwal had used derogatory words against him in reports published in leading newspapers on October 14, 2013.
