NOIDA: Five thieves have been arrested for stealing electronic gadgets like laptops. Last month, two thefts were reported from IT companies in which around 26 laptops were stolen. Police recovered 22 laptops from their possession on Thursday.
According to the police, the arrested persons have been identified as Vikas, a native of Bulandshahr, Waseem, Danish and Suhail, all three from various areas of Delhi and Aadit (21) from Baghpat.
Additional DCP (central Noida) Ankita Sharma said the matter came to light on July 29 after two separate thefts were from two IT companies in Sector 62 of Noida.
"While investigating the cases, police identified a few suspects and arrested two persons from Sector 58 on August 12. During questioning, it was found that both of them were part of a gang involved in several activities of theft and robbery across Delhi-NCR," she added.
Police also came to know the whereabouts of other gang members from the two persons arrested earlier. "Later on Thursday, the five people were caught from Sector 63," said ADCP.
Discussing the modus operandi of the gang, the police officer said that the gang used to identify and target buildings that do not have security guards posted outside them.
"On the weekends or days when the company used to be closed, they would steal the electronic gadgets like laptops, LCD and other valuables on the basis of demand made by their clients. We are investigating to find out more people involved in the gang," the senior cop told TOI.
