Mangaluru: Former minister B Ramanath Rai and MLCs Manjunath Bhandari and Harish Kumar, have condemned the
BJP workers hurling eggs at the car of former chief minister Siddaramaiah, during his visit to Kodagu.
Rai told reporters on Friday, that the ruling BJP is engaged in such acts, to divert the attention of the people from issues such as price rise and others affecting the people at large. People should not get provoked and engage in violence, he added.
Rai urged the police to arrest the conspirators of recent murders in the district, to prevent any communal rift in the district. “Stringent action should be initiated against the conspirators. It was the workers from two political parties who were involved in communal murders in the district. Congress leaders were not not involved in any murders in Dakshina Kannada,” he added.
MLC Harish Kumar said that every one has the right to protest in a democratic set up. However, the protest should be healthy in nature, he said.
He demanded strict action against those who hurled eggs and waved black flag at Siddaramaiah in Kodagu, and an apology from the BJP for the act.
MLC Manjunath Bhandari said that the BJP leaders are desperate, as they think that they will lose their base in the state.
Hence, they are engaged in creating unrest in society, he said, adding that looking at the success of Congress foot march on Independence Day celebrations in Bengaluru, and the 75th birthday celebrations of Siddaramaiah, the BJP leaders are worried, and have become desperate.
He accused the BJP government of discrimination, while disbursing compensation to the kin of murder victims. Law is equal to all, and equal amount of compensation to the kin of the three murder victims in the district should be given, he said.
