Odisha: Sundargarh Medical college gets National Medical Commission nod for 100 MBBS seats

BHUBANESWAR: The new Government Medical College (GMC), Sundargarh, has received approval from the National Medical Commission (NMC) to start admission to 100 MBBS seats from the 2022-23 academic session.
Member/president of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), undergraduate section, NMC, informed about the approval to the dean, GMC, in a letter issued on Thursday. The institution will function under Sambalpur University.
Collector Parag H Gavali said the health sector in Sundargarh will get a major boost with the starting of the medical college.
GMC dean/principal Daitari Routray said they will now initiate the process for admitting the first batch of students qualified through NEET UG-2022. The required infrastructure is ready at the medical college and hospital. The district headquarters hospital (DHH), Sundargarh, will be used as the treating hospital, he added.
The NMC letter stated that it is mandatory to develop a biometric attendance website and display all the information of the college, courses offered, faculty available and their experience in the last five years, students joining and affiliating university.
