Odisha: BJD appoints senior observers for districts

BHUBANESWAR: The ruling BJD on Thursday started the process of overhauling the party organisation with appointment of six new senior observers for 30 districts.
According to an official statement, Niranjan Pujari, Prasanna Acharya, Pramila Mallik, Debi Prasad Mishra, Maheswar Mohanty and Pratap Jena have been appointed as senior observers for various districts.
Recently elected speaker of the state assembly, Bikram Keshari Arukha, and editor-turned politician Soumya Ranjan Patnaik have been dropped as senior observers.
Acharya, whose Rajya Sabha tenure ended recently, has been made senior observers of six key coastal districts, including Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Bhadrak and Balasore.
Former minister and Badamba MLA Debi Prasad Mishra has been appointed senior observer of Ganjam, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Khurda, Puri and Boudh.
Senior leader Maheswar Mohanty will continue as senior observer of Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.
