India vs Pakistan: Relive the eight iconic matches between the arch-rivals ahead of Asia Cup 2022

1996: Both teams met in the quarter-finals of the World Cup. India posted a target of 288. Pakistan had the chase under control, but Venkatesh Prasad got rid of opener Aamer Sohail after an altercation. India won by 39 runs.

1998: The famous India Pakistan contest at the Independence Day Cup in Dhaka. In the third final India chased down 314, completing what was then a record chase in ODI cricket

1999: Also known as the Anil Kumble Test. It was India first Test series against Pakistan in nine years. In the second Test, India’s spin great Kumble became only the second bowler to take 10 wickets in an innings. Mohammed Azharuddin-led side drew the series 1-1 at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.

2003: India faced Pakistan in the group-stage match of the 2003 World Cup. Saeed Anwar slammed a brilliant century in Pakistan’s total of 273-7. Tendulka replied scoring 98 off 75 balls. Pakistan never recovered from it. Kaif, Dravid and Yuvraj finished the game with 26 balls to spare.

2004: The first ODI on India's tour of Pakistan in 15 years, provided a thrilling finish. With six required from the last ball, Moin Khan was caught, handing India the victory.

2004: On the back of a triple-ton by Virender Sehwag, India registered a grand victory, as it toured Pakistan after a gap of seven years. Tendulkar scored 194 as India posted a massive 675-5. India then destroyed Pakistan by an innings and 52 runs.

2007: India and Pakistan faced off in the group stage of the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup. With both the sides tied after 20 overs, the match was decided by a bowl-out. India won the match by a 3-0 margin.

2007: The arch rivals faced off again. This time in the T20 World Cup final. India posted 158. Pakistan slumped only to recover and put India in a spot. In the final over, Misbah ul Haq scooped the ball high, only to be caught by Sreesanth, handing the Men In Blue a five-run win.

2011: India faced Pakistan in the semi-finals of the World Cup. India set up a target of 261. Pakistan got off to a good start, but India, with its bowling attack and tight fielding, clinched a 29-run win.
