NOIDA: The Noida traffic police have made diversion plans near Iskcon Temple in Sector 33 and Sanatan Dharma Temple in Sector 19 on Friday for the Krishna Janmashtami celebrations. Vehicular movement will be stopped on Maharaja Agrasen Road - outside Iskcon Temple - on Friday.
DCP (traffic) Ganesh Prasad Saha said that the Noida elevated road's loop, from Sector 60 towards Sector18, descends near Iskcon Temple. "Traffic movement will be restricted on this loop for ascent and descent. However, the traffic on the elevated road will run normally," he said. The loop on the NTPC side will also be closed for traffic movement to facilitate movement of devotees.
Vehicles going from Sector 31/25 towards sectors 60, 62 and Indirapuram will be diverted towards Spice Mall, Adobe Crossing, then sectors 22, 23 and 24 to continue their journey. Similar traffic diversion will be in place for vehicles coming from sectors 60 and 62 to sectors 25, 31, 18 and 16.
During Krishna Janmashtami celebrations, some commuters also stop their vehicles on the elevated road to see the celebrations which lead to traffic jams. Cops said that they will deploy personnel to ensure commuters or vehicles do not halt on the elevated road.
Ekant Dham Das, spokesperson for Iskcon Temple, Noida, said that the temple management expects 5 lakh devotees on Krishna Janmashtami.
"The Krishna Janmashtami celebrations are being held at this scale after two years due to the pandemic and subsequent restrictions. We have made arrangements for the devotees and also informed the traffic police and administration. The devotees will be given prasad, and they will perform darshan and aarti throughout the day," he said. For the Sector 19 temple, traffic diversion will be in place from DM Chowk in Sector 27/19.
