Kadana dam releases water, 128 villages put on high alert

Vadodara: Four gates of the Kadana Dam on Mahi River were partially opened on Thursday to maintain the rule level following heavy influx of water due to torrential rain in Rajasthan and the catchment areas.
Sources said that the Kadana project officials had issued an alert for 128 villages located along the Mahi River. They did not rule out the possibility of more water being released from the dam.
The water reached the level of 126.87 m in the dam with the danger level 127.71 m. The rule level of the dam is 126.8 m.
On Thursday evening, the dam had an inflow of 62,990 cusecs while 57,060 cusecs water was being discharged. Besides the four gates, water is being discharged in the hydropower plant of the dam and the canals of the dam.
