Heavy rain alert for Jaisalmer & Barmer

Jaisalmer: It has been raining incessantly for the last 36 hours in Jaisalmer and Barmer districts. The weather department has issued an alert of heavy rains in the next 24 hours. According to the meteorological department, in western Rajasthan there could be 100 mm to 200 mm rainfall. Barmer district collector had declared a holiday for government and private schools on Thursday. People in waterlogged areas of Balotra and Kalyanpura have been shifted to safer places. Rainwater also entered many houses in Chauhatan area and also in low lying areas of Barmer. Barmer collector Lok Bandhu said that civil defence teams have been deployed in flood prone areas. He also said if required then SDRF will also be called for rescue operations. TNN
