Panaji: Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Goa on August 20 and 21 owing to the formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.
The low pressure area has formed over the northeast and east-central Bay of Bengal and is very likely to move north-westwards and concentrate into a depression by August 19 morning.
The India meteorological department (IMD) has issued a warning against squally wind speed reaching up to 40-50 kmph, gusting to 60 kmph over South Maharashtra-Goa coast on August 20 and 22.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture along and off the coast during this period.
The southwest monsoon was weak over the state over the past few days with only light to moderate rainfall having occurred at most places.
Rain gauge stations across Goa have been reporting only one to two cm of rainfall so far.
