5 rescued from 7-storey bldg lift

Thane: As many as five persons including four women were rescued from a lift of a seven storey building in Thane on Thursday, a civic official informed.
An official from Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) of Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) informed that the incident took place around 7am on Thursday at a building located in the Patlipada area of Ghodbunder road in Thane.
The official added that some of them started panicking after getting stuck in the elevator . Later, someone from the building sought help stating that some persons were stuck in the lift possibly due to technical glitch.
A team of RDMC as well as firefighters from Balkum rushed to the spot .
“Five people had gotten stuck between the fifth floor of the ground-plus-seven storey building,” the official informed. “We are not sure as to what exactly happened to the elevator,” said an official from the RDMC.
“Either it was due to interruption of power supply or may be due to technical snag. But they were rescued as they had sought help from us,” he added
Among those who had gotten stuck in the elevator include two women aged 60 years and 28 years, along with two other women, and also a man who is in his 40’s. The official from RDMC informed that they were rescued within half an hour by the rescue team.
