AMBALA: A 34-year-old man ended his life by hanging at his residence in Ambala Cantonment on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Arun of Topkhana Parade, Ambala Cantonment, who committed suicide allegedly over his wife's extra-marital relation with an accused man.
On the complaint of Arun's brother, Rahul, the police have registered a case against six people identified as Lakshmi (Arun's wife), Babli, Raju alias Lala, Kamal, Sagar and Aakash, under Section 34 (common intention) and 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Ambala Cantonment police station on Thursday.
In his police complaint, Rahul stated that his brother Arun had married Lakshmi of Kankarkheri, Meerut,
Uttar Pradesh (UP) in February 2020.
"After two months of his marriage, Arun had come to know about his wife's extra-marital relation with one Aakash. My family had talked to Arun's in-laws several times about his wife's illicit relationship but they never stopped her. In fact, they used to threaten my brother. About a month ago, Lakshmi had gone to her maternal house in Meerut", said Rahul.
Rahul alleged that some months ago, Arun's mother-in-law Babli, father-in-law Raju, brother-in-law Kamal and Sagar had come to their house in Ambala, when they had again talked with them about Lakshmi's illicit relation, but they threatened and harassed his brother.
Rahul said on Thursday, when my father Satpal went to Arun's room to serve tea in the morning, he witnessed him hanging onto a rod used for ceiling fan.
The complainant said they cut the dupatta to bring Arun down but he was dead already and found a two-page note from the room.
Ambala Cantonment police station house officer (SHO) inspector Naresh Kumar said, "Post-mortem of deceased Arun was conducted on Friday and the dead body was handed over to the family members. A suicide note has been recovered from the spot, which will be sent for forensic examination. A case was registered and investigation is being done."
