Godavari level at Bhadrachalam 53.2 feet
HYDERABAD: The Godavari is in spate at Bhadrachalam with the water levels rising again and having touched the third warning level (53ft). On Tuesday till 9 pm, the water level was at 53.20 feet with a discharge of 14,36,573 cusecs.
Earlier last week, the water had crossed the second danger mark level, but then eventually receded.
Last month, the water level had touched 72 feet, leading to inundation of several colonies in Bhadrachalam town and affecting the road network on three sides. Colonies in Bhadrachalam bore the brunt of the flood situation and thousands were evacuated to relief camps. Several villages in Bhadradri Kothagudem district were also inundated.
With rains in Maharashtra resulting in fresh inflows into Godavari, authorities have made arrangements to shift people from low-lying areas to relief camps. As Bhadrachalam to Charla highway has been inundated, RTC buses have stopped plying on the road as it is out of bounds for motorists. Authorities have advised fishermen against going out in the wake of the fluid situation.
