MUMBAI: Prakash Surve, rebel Shiv Sena MLA from Magathane who joined CM Shinde's camp, has courted controversy after he asked supporters to knock out rivals. In a speech, which went viral, Surve asked them not to get bullied and break rivals' legs if they can't break their hands. He said he was an MLA and would get them bail the next day, so they need not worry.
"You will all work hard so you will be victorious. But we should not stay complacent. We do not want to remain silent until we show them their place. You should not get bullied by anyone and tolerate... If someone says anything to you, answer them back. Prakash Surve is sitting here... knock them out. If you can't break the hand, break the legs. I will provide table bail the next day, don't worry about it. We will not go after anyone but if anyone comes after us, then we will not sit back either," Surve said in his speech during a rally on Sunday. A complaint has been filed against Surve at Dahisar police station.
Condemning the incidents, chief minister Eknath Shinde said he will not support nor defend them. "The law is the same for all, no one is above the law, not even me. A thorough inquiry will be conducted in these incidents and action will be taken on whoever is found violating the law," said CM Shinde.
