HYDERABAD: Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Tuesday termed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as "enemy of Telangana" for allegedly depriving the state of its rightful share in Krishna waters and for not helping to complete the prestigious Palamuru-Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS).
Despite lack of support from the Centre, the Telangana government would complete the PRLIS project and provide water to irrigate four lakh acres in Vikarabad, Tandur and Chevella constituencies, he said. KCR, who attacked Modi during his Independence Day speech on Monday, chose the public meeting in Vikarabad after inaugurating the new Vikarabad collectorate complex to criticise the PM and the Centre again.
He also lashed out at the BJP when some party workers tried to obstruct his bus by waving BJP flags. "If the BJP state president or Vikarabad BJP president has guts, let them go to Delhi and get clearances for projects and funds and stop waving flags at me or trying to stop my bus," KCR said.
He alleged that the Centre was trying to prevent states from implementing welfare schemes such as Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima in the name of putting an end to freebies. The central government, however, waived Rs 20 lakh crore loan to corporates, he charged.
KCR urged people and intelligentsia to debate as to what was happening in the country and called upon people to teach a lesson to the evil forces to protect India.
Do not fall for BJP's false propaganda: CM
In his Independence Day speech, I thought Modi will announce some schemes or benefits to people as he has done nothing in the last eight years. He just uttered some dialogues and wore a colourful turban on his head."
The CM repeatedly asked the people to be vigilant and not fall into the trap of BJP's 'false propaganda'. The BJP-led NDA government had not fulfilled any of its promises and now was asking the states to fix meters to agriculture pumpsets and cut down welfare schemes in the name of reforms, he said.
"Should the state government fix the meters? Do you want the government to provide free 24x7 power to agriculture sector or not?" he asked. The CM, who listed out welfare schemes being implemented, asked Vikarabad leaders to take 1,000 people - men and women - to neighbouring Karnataka and check out the schemes implemented in BJP-ruled state and compare them with Telangana schemes.
He said people of Raichur in Karnataka had demanded their region be merged with Telangana. KCR said before bifurcation, some people had spread rumours that land rates in Telangana would come down in erstwhile Rangareddy district. "Contrary to that, Rangareddy, Vikarabad and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts have the highest land rates in the state," he said.
