Varanasi: Almost 12 days after his release from Varanasi Central Jail, mafia don and former MLC Brijesh Singh reached Ghazipur- the home turf of his arch rival and jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari- to appear before the court for hearing in a case of 2001 in which he is accused of attacking Mukhtar’s fleet and killing three in Usarichatti area of the district.
However, as the judge of MP MLA Court Ramsudh Singh was on leave, the hearing in the case of Usarichatti killing in 2001 could not take place on Tuesday, said district government counsel Niraj Srivastava. The court has fixed August 29 as next date for hearing, he added.
In view of hearing of this case as well as arrival of Brijesh, the security of the district court compound had been tightened. ASP city Gopinath Soni and CO City Gaurav Kumar camped there to monitor the security arrangements. At around 11am, Brijesh reached the court with his lawyer and left after getting new date of hearing.
Three persons including gunner of Mukhtar were killed in the attack on the fleet of Mukhtar and his supporters on July 15, 2001. Mukhtar had lodged a named FIR against Brijesh, his close aide Tribhuvan Singh and 15 others in this connection.
After his arrest in 2008, Brijesh was lodged in jail. He was released from Central Jail of Varanasi on August 4 after granting of bail by Allahabad High Court on August 3. His release order was received by the senior superintendent of Central Jail Arvind Kumar Singh from ADJ-I (MPMLA) court of Ghazipur district.
Mukhtar is currently lodged at Banda jail.
