PUNE: The Mundhwa police are investigating a complaint by a 45-year-old businessman from Koregaon Park that a 35-year-old woman on a two-wheeler hit him on the head with a stone during a quarrel over his car splashing water on her on a waterlogged road between Tadigutta Chowk and ABC Farms around 4.30pm on Monday.
The woman works on contract as a conservancy staffer with the Pune Municipal Corporation, the police said on Tuesday.
Senior inspector Bramhanand Naikwadi said, "The businessman was going home from Magarpatta and the woman was also headed in the same direction when the car splashed water on her. She chased the businessman and hit her broom on the car's windscreen to force him to stop. When the businessman confronted her, she picked up a stone and hit him on the head. He took four stitches at a private hospital before lodging a police complaint."

Investigating officer Praveen Bhosale said, "We have issued a notice to the woman under the Criminal Procedure Code, asking her to join the police in investigation because she was booked under a bailable offence."
When TOI contacted the businessman, he said, "I do not wish to comment on the matter."
Bhosale said, "The woman was angry after water splashed on her from the car's rear tyre. She hit the car's windscreen with her broom and also abused the businessman, who did not react out of fright. He and the woman first went to the nearby Koregaon Park police chowkey from where they were referred to the Mundhwa police station."
The businessman later registered a case under sections 324 (causing grievous hurt) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) of the Indian Penal Code against the woman, the officer said.
Road rage has of late become a major concern . On July 27, a criminal (33) on police records stabbed a solar heating systems trader (49) thrice in the stomach at Thergaon on Wednesday night after picking up a quarrel and accusing the latter of driving a car closely past his scooter in a "dangerous manner".
