A three-member Enforcement Directorate (ED) team, including a woman officer, interrogated Arpita Mukherjee at Alipore Women Correctional Home on Tuesday for more than five hours, 10 days after Mukherjee, a "close aide" of former Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee was sent in judicial custody in connection with teachers' recruitment scam.

This is the first time Arpita was questioned in judicial custody. The three-member ED team, with a woman officer, reached the Correctional Home at 12.30 pm and started quizzing Mukherjee in the interrogation room inside the jail.

Mukherjee was questioned about policies, several property documents and details about the companies in the name of Chatterjee and Mukherjee, among other questions, which Mukherjee evaded during custody, people in the know said.

The agency had informed the court during hearing about 31 LIC policies in the name of Arpita Mukherjee, in which Partha Chatterjee has been mentioned as a nominee. The agency had also claimed that they have found a company Ananta TexFab, which is in the names of Chatterjee and Mukherjee.

Chatterjee and Mukherjee were sent to jail custody on the same day, August 5. Both Chatterjee and Mukherjee will be produced in a special PMLA court on August 18.
