Nitish Kumar announces Tejashwi Yadav's promise of 10 lakh jobs

The government will have its first Cabinet expansion on Tuesday, a week after taking oath, when more than 25 ministers are likely to be inducted, according to party insiders. Yadav and Congress Bihar in-charge Bhakta Charan Das met the CM and submitted their party's list of ministers to be sworn in on Tuesday.

The realigned government in Bihar will provide 10 lakh jobs, chief minister Nitish Kumar said at his Independence Day speech. He said that his wish was to provide 10 lakh jobs and another 10 lakh employment opportunities.

"We will do everything for the job and employment of the youth. We are together. Our concept is that at least we should provide 10 lakh jobs," Kumar said in his speech after hoisting the national flag in Patna. "We will work inside the government and outside. Our wish is that we should take it to 20 lakh and we will work for that." On his part, deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav, who first made the promise, lauded Kumar for the announcement and called it historic and a victory for the youth of Bihar.

According to party insiders, 14 to 16 ministers are likely to take oath from RJD, the largest party in the alliance. Twelve ministers could take oath from JDU. Congress has been offered three ministerial berths out of which two will take oath on Tuesday. One Cabinet berth will be given to Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustan Awam Morcha and one for Independent Sumit Singh. This will be above JDU's quota. Kumar will hold the home portfolio and as per the deal, RJD's nominee will be the Speaker.

Vijay Chaudhary, Sanjay Jha, Shravan Kumar and Bijendra Prasad Yadav have made it to the ministerial list from JDU. From RJD, Alok Mehta, Surendra Ram, Shahnawaz Alam, Ramanand Yadav and Kumar Sarvjeet are set to take oath as ministers. Tejashwi's elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav will also be one of the Cabinet ministers.
