Three woman BJP members arrested for throwing slipper at TN finance minister PTR's SUV in Madurai

MADURAI: Three members of the BJP Mahila Morcha have been arrested by the Madurai city police for throwing a slipper at the sport utility vehicle of Tamil Nadu finance minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan at Madurai airport.
BJP women members Saranya, Dhanalakshmi and Deivanai have been arrested and remanded in judicial custody in connection with the Saturday's incident.
One of three women has been held responsible for throwing the slipper at the minister's vehicle.
Six BJP members had already been arrested. The Avaniyapuram police have registered a case.
As minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan was leaving after paying tributes to the mortal remains of soldier D Lakshmanan on Saturday, some BJP cadres intercepted his SUV and one of them threw a slipper at the vehicle, which was sporting a national flag on the bonnet. Police had to intervene and remove the BJP cadre.
The minister had later tweeted in humour that the slipper thrown was safe if the 'Cinderella,' who had left it, wanted it back.
