Bomb scare at Hyderabad BJP office, cops find nothing suspicious

Telangana BJP members on Tuesday, August 16, called the Hyderabad police with a suspicion that a bomb had been planted outside the party’s office in Nampally in the city. Police personnel arrived at the state BJP head office, along with a bomb disposal squad and dog squad, after BJP members raised a bomb scare over a car that had been parked outside the office for the past couple of days, with a travel bag visible inside. However, nothing suspicious was found in the Tata Nano car. The office is located in a residential area in Nampally, in the heart of the city. 

Sniffer dogs and bomb detection squad personnel were seen examining the car outside the office on Tuesday afternoon. However, nothing suspicious was found in the car or the bag inside it except some clothes, according to Sakshi. The car had reportedly been parked outside the office building for the past two days. As the searches by the bomb detection squad were still ongoing, Telangana BJP chief spokesperson K Krishna Sagar Rao told a news channel that the bomb scare was “shocking” and “unsettling”.

“It is shocking to know that there is something very suspicious going on at the office right now. Regularly, as we visit the office, there are many cars parked there so we generally don’t find anything suspicious. But during the August 15 and earlier celebrations, most of the cars were cleared from that space and this one remained. So that is how this was spotted,” Krishna Sagar Rao said. 

Earlier on August 15, clashes broke out between supporters of the ruling TRS and the BJP during state BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar's ongoing padayatra or walkathon in Jangaon district of Telangana. The clashes, including stone-pelting, occurred at Devaruppala in the district and a few persons from both parties reportedly suffered minor injuries.
