HYDERABAD: Hours before the 75th Independence Day celebrations begin, speculation is rife whether chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao will attend the 'At
Home' at Raj Bhavan. According to reliable sources, governor Tamilisai Soundararajan has sent a letter to the chief minister's office, inviting him to the 'At Home' event at Raj Bhavan on Monday evening.
Chief ministers across the country hoist the Tricolour at the location of their choice on the Independence Day and attend 'At Home', hosted by governors, at the latter's official residence. At the national level, the Prime Minister attends the President's 'At Home'.

As the relations between Raj Bhavan and Pragati Bhavan were on good terms, KCR had attended the event till 2020, but was absent in the subsequent years. "It would be great if the CM could attend the event because it marks 75 years of independence, and the governor has extended an invitation," high-ranking sources said. Other protocol issues between Raj Bhavan and the government machinery, however, remain unresolved though, they added. During the Ugadi celebrations, the chief minister and other government functionaries had skipped the Raj Bhavan event, drawing the governor's ire. However, chief minister did attend the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan in June.
Meanwhile, the governor has reportedly invited a large number of guests, including experts from various fields, for the Raj Bhavan event.
According to sources, the governor also invited representatives of several IT companies to the event. The governor has been actively coordinating with IIIT-Basar students, many of whom had raised the issue of not being provided laptops for a long time. "She may ask IT companies to sponsor laptops for them, and some students have received aid from Raj Bhavan," the sources said.
