Prayagraj: On the eve of the 75 year of Independence several events were held in the Sangam City, on Sunday. From tiranga yatra to processions, common man as well as the organisations and institutions all were seen in patriotic fervour while celebrating the 75th year of country attaining freedom.
In one such event,
BJP’s member of parliament from Allahabad, Prof Rita Bahuguna Joshi participated in a ‘tiranga yatra’ in village Galibabad of Karchana block of the district. She hoisted the national flag at the house of Mohd Shafiq alias Nankau and appealed to the people present there to place the tricolour at their respective homes and feel proud of our country. Joshi also garlanded the statue of former block chief Ram Swaroop Pandey alias Babau Pandey at the Meja Road intersection of Meja assembly.
The MP joined the tiranga yatra along with the NCC cadets. She distributed the flag at Meja Road intersection under tricolour distribution programme, informed media in charge of Prof Joshi, Abhishek Shukla.
Prof Joshi participated in the programme being celebrated by district administration under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. A silent procession was organised from the Vizanagram Hall of Allahabad University and up to gate number 3 at Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Park.
Likewise, several NGO’s and organisations took out the tiranga yatra at different parts of the city. One such yatra was taken out from Mal Godam (leader road) up to famous ‘Neem tree’ of chowk on the branches of which British had hanged many freedom fighters. The 100 meter long tricolour was being held by the members participating in the yatra.
