JAIPUR: The Rajasthan government will work with Denmark for water and environmental conservation, said officials. A delegation of officials headed by Mahesh Joshi, minister for public health engineering department visited Denmark this week and studied how water capacity can be increased for urban areas along with river rejuvenation for sustainable development.
Joshi, on Friday, met the Danish authorities to develop a framework for drinking water management, cooperation in areas such as urban water, smart water supply, wastewater treatment, energy generation from sewerage treatment plants and rejuvenation of rivers.
“Denmark’s work in the field of water and environment conservation is commendable. Aarhus River Water Project and Wastewater Management System are excellent examples in the field of water and environment conservation. Such experiments can also be done in Rajasthan with Denmark’s help,” said Joshi.
Officials said that earlier in October 2021, a Danish delegation had come to Rajasthan and visited Jaipur and Udaipur and met senior officials from PHED and other departments concerned. The delegation also discussed a Green Strategic Partnership between the two regions.
During the visit the delegation of Rajasthan discussed about smart water resource management, improvement of drinking water services, efficiency of water quality and distribution, waste water planning and management, urban planning, and governance as well as political and administrative structure. The delegation also saw the process of energy production from the plant.
Officials said that a Letter of Intent will be signed between both the governments in October during Investors’ Summit to be conducted in Rajasthan. The delegation included additional chief secretary PHED Subodh Agarwal among others.
