Mini marathon organised in Allahabad

PRAYAGRAJ: As part of the series of celebrations under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a mini marathon was organised under the aegis of HQ, Purva UP and MP Sub Area at the Sangam City, on Saturday. The event was coordinated by Ordinance Depot (OD) fort, Prayagraj.
Military and police personal, fitness enthusiasts, NCC cadets, women, students of different schools and civilians participated voluntarily and promoted health and fitness for all.
According to defence PRO, Group Captain, Samir Gangkhedkar, the mini marathon started from parade ground and was flagged off by Major General Jai Singh Bainsla, GOC Purva UP and MP Sub Area. Enthusiastic runners from various age groups covered a total distance of 6 km stretched astride the banks of Ganges, fort walls of Akbar Fort, Lete Hanuman temple on Sangam Triveni road and culminated back at parade ground.
The event culminated with felicitation of first 15 runners.
In another event, also marking the celebrations for the 75th year of Independence, the Red Eagle Division of Indian Army conducted a weapon and equipment display at Chandrashekhar Azad Park, Prayagraj.
The display showcased various weapons and equipment in use with the Red Eagle Division. Amongst the major weapons displayed were the Bofors and light field gun along with the infantry weapons of an infantry Battalion. The equipment displayed included radars of various types and NBC equipment. tnn
