HYDERABAD: AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP
Asaduddin Owaisi has said that the foundation of India's freedom struggle has the blood of a large number of Muslim men and women and not that of Nathuram Godse and his followers.
He added that Muslims were not responsible for the partition of India. "Those spreading hatred against Muslims and asking to raise the Tricolour on the occasion of 75 years of Independence did not have any role in India's freedom struggle," he said.
Addressing a public meeting on 'Role of Muslims in India's Independence struggle' here on late on Friday night, Owaisi said: "Those who say they love India and are proud of India, should also love all the religions and cultures co-existing in the country. Muslims love India and are proud of being Indians and have stayed back in the country while those wanting Pakistan left the country. We will live here, die here, get buried here and be raised hereafter from this land (India)."
He said the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh had opposed B R Ambedkar's Constitution and wanted Manu Smriti in its place. Minds and hearts of the people have been poisoned against Muslims for the last 70 years by some vested interests.
"I hope Prime Minister
Narendra Modi will mention about Muslims' contribution to India's freedom struggle in his Independence Day speech on Monday," he said.
