LUDHIANA: Two miscreants grabbed a land of 10 Kanal 9 marla with the help of an unidentified accused who impersonated as the owner of the land, one year after the death of the actual owner of the land.
The land owner died in April 2021 and the accused with the help of imposter grabbed the land in April 2022.
After the matter came to the knowledge of the son of the land owner, he lodged a complaint with the police on August 11.
The police thereafter enquired about the matter and lodged an FIR on Saturday against the accused identified as Prabhdeep Singh of village Mohi, Sukhjinder Singh of village Jhande, Gurtej Singh of Mansa and Ajitpal Singh of Khanna. The police probe found that Prabhdeep Singh and Sukhjinder Singh purchased the property whereas Gurtej and Ajitpal were the witnesses for the registry of the land.
The complainant Dr Radha Krishan Gupta of Udham Singh Nagar said that his father Dr Krishan Murari Gupta owned a piece of land 10 kanal 9 marla in village Phagla. His father died on April 27, 2021. A few days back he came to know that the land owned by his father has been sold further.
"After I probed the matter, I found that someone impersonated my father and also got an Aadhar Card in my father’s name. That imposter sold 5 Kanal 14 marla to Prabhdeep Singh and 5 kanal to Sukhjinder Singh. The imposter also got his picture clicked before the Tehsildar for both the registries and forged his signatures too. The land was sold on April 12, 2022 almost a year after the death of his father”, said Gupta.
ASI Dalbir Singh, investigating officer from Ladhowal police station said that it was found that some unidentified man impersonating as Dr Krishan Murari Gupta sold the land to Prabhdeep Singh and Sukhjinder Singh. The other accused Gurtej and Ajitpal were the witnesses in the fraudulent sale of the land. A case under sections 419 (punishment for cheating by personation), 420 (punishment for cheating), 465 (punishment for forgery), 467 (forgery of valuable, security or will etc), 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document) and 120-B (Criminal conspiracy) of IPC. The accused are yet to be arrested.
