In anticipation of the Yamuna's expected increase, a flood warning has been issued for Delhi.

It takes about three days for the water to reach Delhi, according to officials, who also noted that the level at Old Railway bridge, the standard for gauging the flood situation in the nation's capital, is currently at 204.29 metres, below the danger mark of 205.33m.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at a few places in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday. Hence the administration is keeping a close watch on the situation as more rains are forecasted in the region.

All sector officials have been told to stay vigil in their districts and take action on susceptible sites per the department's flood warning. In the next days, sector authorities and district administration will make announcements and deploy quick response teams to alert Yamuna embankment residents.

The Yamuna has 24 boats with two divers each. During the warning, 24 boats with 48 divers will patrol critical areas.
