A woman is seen reacting quickly to save her child from a cobra just outside their residence, in a video which is now going viral.

The incident took place in Mandya district of Karnataka, reports said. CCTV footage from outside the house showed a cobra slithering by in front of the house, very close to the front step.

As it was passing by, the boy rushed out of the house and almost stepped on it, but the reptile took evasive action and stood with its hood raised and ready to strike.

The kid in panic started to rush back past the snake and into the house, something which could have provoked it to bite, but the mother who was out of the house by this time saw the danger and instinctively grabbed the boy by his arm to carry him to safety.

The CCTV footage went viral, with users marvelling at the woman's courage and her protective instinct.

IFS officer Susanta Nanda wrote, “Be careful of snakes during monsoons. This CCTV footage from Mandya of Karnataka is scary. Kudos to the mother’s courage. When it rains, the burrows get filled with water & snakes move out to seek dry shelter. Once spotted, allow it to rest till the professional help arrives.”

Another Twitter user wrote, “Excellent bravery and quick reaction Mom... Hats off to you Mom."
