Varanasi: Two Rs 6.30 crore plots of Mukhtar's wife seized

Cops completing formalities for confiscation of plots belonging to Afsha Anari in Ghazipur
VARANASI: In the on-going drive to cripple the economic empire of jailed mafia don Mukhtar Ansari, police attached two plots of his wife Afsha Ansari in Ghazipur under the Gangster Act on Saturday. The cost of confiscated plots is estimated to be Rs 6.30 crore.
SP Ghazipur Rohan P Botre, who lead the team of district administration and police that attached the plots, said: "Under the on-going investigations to trace the properties purchased with illegally earned money by Mukhtar and his family and gang members, a plot of 0.394 hectare in Rajdepur locality and another of 1.507 hectare in Fatehullapur locality of Ghazipur city, which are registered in the name of Afsha Ansari, were detected by the police. After getting a police report, the district magistrate Ghazipur ordered their attachment under the Gangster Act."
SP Ghazipur, who was present at Rajdepur site, said joint teams raided both the plots and completed all legal formalities of property confiscation. "The estimated market price of both the plots is Rs 6.30 crore," he said, adding, "Before attaching the plots, the Ghazipur police had confiscated other such properties worth Rs 25 crore in the past 25 days."
Mukhtar, with 59 criminal cases in his history sheet, is currently lodged at Banda jail while six cases are lodged under Afsha, who is also booked under Gangster Act.
