Rajasthan govt raises kidney operation package for private hospitals

JAIPUR: The state government has increased packages of kidney transplant, including surgery and follow up, from Rs 3,62,918 to Rs 6,13,823 lakh to encourage private hospitals to perform the surgery for the benefit of patients under Chiranjeevi Yojana. Earlier, most of the private hospitals were not performing it, as they did not find it financially feasible.
The health department issued the orders in this regard on Friday, including the new package which has been added for follow-up of kidney transplant patients. With the inclusion of one more package, the number of packages for kidney transplant has been increased from 5 to 6.
With the increased rate and the new package, hospitals will be encouraged to treat patients and they will not face any problem in performing expensive and difficult operations. So far, 58 patients have successfully undergone transplant surgery free of cost under Chiranjeevi Yojana. Now,under the scheme, the package rate of transplant surgery, including donor nephrectomy, has been increased from Rs 2,15,595 to Rs 3,19,500.
In the package made for renal transplant-induction, a benefit of Rs1,47,323 will be available to the patient.
