KANPUR: A 35-year-old constable riding a two-wheeler was killed after he fell down from a flyover after being hit by unidentified vehicle in Chakeri police area of city, on Friday morning.
The police, on being informed, rushed to the spot and sent the injured constable to Kanshi Ram Hospital, where the doctor declared him dead. The police identified the deceased constable as Sushil Kumar, a resident of Maithi village in Kanpur Dehat, who was a 2011 batch constable. He was posted in Unnao Reserve Police Line. On Friday morning, he was going back to his native home in Kanpur Dehat on a bike on the account of Raksha Bandhan festival. A speeding vehicle coming from behind hit his two-wheeler on the flyover near Safipur.
Chakeri police station in-charge Shailendra Singh said that the constable fell down from the bridge after being hit by a speeding vehicle, following which he suffered serious injuries and succumbed later.
“After informing the family members of the deceased constable, the body has been sent for post-mortem,” he said.
