Bengaluru: IOC general manager falls to death from roof

BENGALURU: A 58-year-old general manager of Indian Oil Corporation died after he accidentally fell from a height of 20ft at a private solar water heater manufacturing unit in Kempathimmanahalli village, near Devanahalli, on Tuesday. The deceased is C Ram Prasad, GM, engineering department, IOC, and resident of JP Nagar.
Police said the incident occurred around 1pm at Velnet Non-conventional Energy System Pvt Ltd (Kamal Solar). Vishwanathapura police registered a criminal negligence case under IPC section 304A against Prashanth, son of the solar plant owner, based on a complaint filed by Prasad's son Rahul.
According to the complaint, Prashanth asked Prasad to visit the solar generator park set up on the terrace of his firm. Prasad went to see the park and stepped on a polycarbonate sheet on the roof, which gave way. He fell 20ft to the ground. Rahul alleged Prashanth had taken his father to the solar park without taking safety precautions.
