Jaipur records 214 Covid cases, govt raises no. of samplings

JAIPUR: The city on Thursday reported the biggest single day spike of 214 Covid cases since February 20 when an equal number of people tested positive for the virus.
Sanganer reported 41 cases in the past 24 hours, which were highest in the city, followed by Jagatpura (12), Amber (10), eight persons each were tested positive for the virus in Jagatpura and Malviya Nagar and seven were found infected with the virus in Mansarovar. Cases were reported from 44 different areas in the city.
The health department has increased sampling in the city over the past few days. In Jaipur, 3,033 samples were collected on Thursday against 1,365 a day earlier. More persons recovered from the virus in the city than new infections reported in the past 24 hours.
The health department declared 286 patients as recovered from the virus. Since more persons recovered than new infections, active cases reduced from 1,470 to 1,398 in past 24 hours. In the state, 658 persons tested positive in 24 hours taking the overall tally to 12,99,665.
An official said they have increased the number of sampling and collected 20,234 samples for Covid testing in the past 24 hours.
With no death reported in the past 24 hours, the toll stood at 9,592. Active cases in the state have increased marginally from 4,158 to 4,299.The districts which have currently more than 200 active cases are Jaipur (1,398), Alwar (641), Udaipur (437) and Jodhpur (242). In 24 hours, the five districts which have reported highest number of daily Covid infections were Jaipur (214), Alwar (142), Udaipur (73), Bharatpur (62) and Chittorgarh (39).
