According to the reports, a man rushed to the stage and began stabbing and punching the author while he was being introduced. A video of the incident has gone viral on the internet. Salman's attacker has reportedly been detained, but the author's condition remains unclear as of now. The 75-year-old has been on the radar of religious fanatics after he released his novel 'The Satanic Verses' in 1988. His book is banned in Iran since it was published and a fatwa was later issued against the author calling for his death.
