J&K: Police neutralise killer of Rahul Bhat, Amreen Bhat in Budgam

The police carried out a major operation on August 11 in Budgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Member of the terrorist group LeT, Lateef Rather, was neutralised in the operation. Lateef Rather was part of LeT from the past 2 decades and was responsible for killing Rahul Bhat and Amreen Bhat.“Major operation was carried out on August 10 in which a module of LeT was neutralized. This module was led by Lateef Rather, who was a member of LeT for past 2 decades and was involved in major activities including killing of police and SF personnel,” Brigadier VJS Birdi said. “More recently, he was involved in terror activities with Saqib Ahmad Khan who too was killed in this operation. He led killing of Sameer Ahmad, sarpanch of Khonmoh, Rahul Bhat, and Amreen Bhat and killing of non-locals at brick kiln in Chadoora,” he added.“They were planning a major attack in run up to Independence Day. On August 10, based on input from Jammu and Kashmir Police, Rashtriya rifles and police launched an operation against them. They were neutralized with zero casualties,” he further added.
