Delhi News Today, Delhi-NCR News Live Updates (August 12): A day after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman exchanged heated arguments related to free welfare schemes, Deputy CM Manish Sisodia today said the Finance Minister is trying to scare the public by saying that the free welfare schemes will destroy the country. He asked Sitharaman to study the models of other countries and how they have become rich economically by giving free schemes to the public. Kejriwal had on Thursday said the BJP was creating an atmosphere against providing free services to the public by calling them ‘freebies’ to which Sitharaman replied that he gave a“perverse twist” to the debate.

Manish Sisodia said Delhi has a good revenue surplus despite running free schemes while UP, Madhya Pradesh, and other states where BJP is in power have a huge fiscal deficiency. He also said the revenue of the Delhi government has increased in the last seven years.
"We are not only saying this, CAG is also saying the same," he said.
" Under its Dostvaad Model, BJP has waived off Rs 5 lakh crore of tax and Rs 10 lakh crore to loans of their friends. It did not cause loss to the government's vault, but free education, health, and electricity are destroying the country's revenue surplus," Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.
