India's total for COVID-19 went over 20 million on August 7, 2020, 30 million on August 23, 40 million on September 5, and 50 million on September 16. It passed 60 million on September 28, 70 million on October 11, 80 million on October 29, 90 million on November 20, and 1 million on December 19.

India registered 16,299 new coronavirus infections, bringing the total to 4,42,06,996 while active cases fell to 1,25,076. The death toll grew to 5,26,879 with 53 fatalities, including four deaths resolved by Kerala.

0.28 percent of total infections are active, whereas the national COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.53 percent, the government stated.
