Nearly a month after its launch, the buzz surrounding Nothing phone (1) is steady. The smartphone with its unique design and top-of-the-line features has generated mixed reactions among tech enthusiasts. The UK-based smartphone company has reportedly triggered yet another debate online. This time it's not about its upcoming devices but rather an unusual tweak on its web page detailing the smartphone's specifications.

Nothing phone (1) was publicized as a device that has the potential of racing 1,200 nits brightness while viewing HDR content. The feature was seen as a great addition to the smartphone that was being marketed as a mid-range premium smartphone. However, it now seems that the truth is far from what is being offered. The brand has reportedly changed its promotional campaign. The brand reportedly took this step after numerous reviewers called it out for claiming incorrect peak brightness value.

Noted tech portal ComputerBase revealed that the Nothing phone (1) did not offer 1200 nits peak brightness in any circumstances. They substantiated the claim by sharing snapshots of Nothing’s website post that shared the specifications during the initial advertising and what it shows now.

In the run-up to the highly-anticipated launch, the brand claimed 1200 nits brightness as one of the USPs of the device. This claim was also supported by several notable reviewers. Nothing is yet to release any official statement on the issue.

Nothing phone (1) was launched on July 12. The smartphone packs a Snapdragon 778G+ chipset. The device comes with a 6.55-inch OLED display with HDR10+ and has a 120Hz refresh rate. Nothing Phone (1) comes in both white and black colours, with three variants to choose from 8GB/128GB (INR 32,999), 8GB/256GB (INR 35,999), and the 12GB/256GB (INR 38,999).
