Jaipur: A day after a 22-year-old man was found murdered in Bhankrota, the police on Wednesday arrested his uncle and aunt for the crime. The accused have been identified as Gulab Singh (37) and Pushpa (33), residents of Mahapura in the city.
The Bhankrota police claimed that Singh suspected that the victim,
Ajay Kumar, had an affair with his wife Pushpa. The investigation revealed that Singh strangulated Ajay on Tuesday and then dumped his body alongside the road.
The control room had received a call about an unidentified body near the service lane in Mahapura. The team that went there found strangulation marks on his neck. ‘We looked around for clues and found a tattoo on his body. This led us to identify him as Ajay, a native of
Haryana. He was living in Jaipur with his uncle Gulab Singh and working in a private company,” an official said.
The city police sent multiple teams to over a dozen locations in Jaipur where workers from different cities stay.
It was around the same time that the police picked up information about the victim’s local contacts. “We suspected the victim’s relatives. They were not able to provide any credible information about the incident,” said an official. Singh, during interrogation revealed that he suspected his nephew of having an affair with his wife. Angry over this, he strangulated Ajay with a wire, put his body on a scooter and dumped it on the highway along with his wife.
