Canada tourism is slowly returning as Canadians as well as visiting foreign nationals sustain the hospitality industry and perk up revival to the levels of the pre-COVID times, reports Statistics Canada.

As per this week’s report of national statistical and demographic services, the activity of tourism in Canada was still behind 21.2 per cent below the level for the same month in May 2019, the last full year before the pandemic affected the country.

With the close down of borders and restrictions in public health, comprising temporary business close downs in several provinces, in 2020, tourism took a massive hit. However at this moment, it’s experiencing an upward trend. Statistics Canada said that tourism activity has progressively picked up from May 2021, except for a momentary gap in 2022 January because of the Omicron variant and renewed restrictions of COVID-19.

Both domestic and inbound travel in May added to the development and revival of tourism in general across the country. It’s the third consecutive month to attain the highest level noted since the beginning of Covid-19. And the most important indicators for tourism are pointing toward better times in the coming days.

In its Leading Indicator Of International Arrivals To Canada, June 2022 report published in July, Statistics Canada discloses that travel into the country stroke the level this year that were similar to those in 2019.

The reports of Statistics Canada explained that in June, to Canada, the number of international arrivals increased sharply compared to June 2021.
