Gang rivalry: 5 arrested for killing Rowdy Rajkumar in Chennai

CHENNAI: A gang of five has been arrested for murdering a rowdy due to previous enmity. Three knives used for the murder were recovered from them. Rowdy Rajkumar, 29, was hacked to death on Tuesday near Nerkundram.
Inquiries revealed that Rajkumar was involved in the murder of one Shanmugam in Thiruverkadu last year. Though he was arrested in connection with the case, he came out on bail last year. Soon, he learned that Prakash, a close associate of Shanmugam, and his friend Kannan had hatched a plot to murder him.
As they were monitoring his movements, Rajkumar stopped going home and was staying at his friend's place in Koyambedu. On Tuesday night, when Rajkumar was riding his bike on his way to Nerkundram, the gang intercepted him and attacked him. Rajkumar died on the spot.
The accused are K Lal alias Prakash, 29, his father S Kumar, 52, S Rahul, 19, P Sundar, 21, and P Nagaraj, 44. They have been remanded in jail.
